about

Tristan Honsinger passed in Trieste, Italy, on August 5th, 2023.
He and I have worked together in the ICP Orchestra for more
than 25 years, on countless concert tours and recordings.
Tristan's wit and creative spirit, combined with his consequent
rejection of the status quo, are the stuff of legend. And, he was
an incredible cook! Those band meals he made for us during a
snow storm in 2003, when we were stuck for days in an airport
hotel in Denver, Colorado, were epic.

This music is dedicated to his memory and to that of other
recently departed friends. The list, sadly, is long. Thinking of
you dear Ansgar Ballhorn, Luten Petrowsky, Peter Brötzmann,
Paul DelMaschio, Karl Berger, Udo Moll, Mack Goldsbury,
Gerd Dudek, Jaimie Branch, Fredy Studer, Rolf Kühn,
Daniel Barritt Levine, Mark Whitecage and Cor Fuhler.
We connected through our shared love for the music,
and I learned a lot from each one of you. The time spent in
your company will always be cherished, thank you all!
